This Privacy Policy explains how Jay Kern, REALTOR® operating as Kern Realty | CIR Realty ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects information in connection with the website kernrealty.ca (the "Site") and the tools we use to run our real-estate business in Central Alberta, Canada.
1. Who we are
Jay Kern is a licensed REALTOR® with CIR Realty, serving Red Deer and Central Alberta. You can reach us at jay@kernrealty.ca or 587‑802‑1500.
2. Information we collect
- Information you give us — such as your name, email, phone number and message when you contact us, request a home valuation, or submit a form.
- Usage information — standard analytics about how visitors use the Site (pages viewed, device and browser type, approximate region), collected through Google Analytics.
- Cookies — small files used to keep the Site working and to measure traffic. You can disable cookies in your browser; some features may not work as well.
3. Our TikTok content-scheduling integration
We use a private, self-hosted social-media scheduling tool (Postiz) that connects, through TikTok's official API, to Jay Kern's own TikTok account (@kernrealty) so that Jay can publish his own real-estate videos to his own profile.
This integration accesses only Jay Kern's own TikTok account. Through TikTok's API we use the Login Kit and Content Posting API to sign Jay in and publish his content, which requires read access to his own basic profile information (open ID, display name, avatar, profile link) and permission to upload and publish videos to his account. We do not collect, store, sell, or process the personal data of any other TikTok users through this integration, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling. TikTok's own handling of data is governed by TikTok's privacy policy.
4. How we use information
- To respond to your enquiries and provide real-estate services you request.
- To send information you have asked for (for example, a home valuation or market update).
- To operate, secure, and improve the Site.
- To publish our own marketing content to our own social-media accounts.
- To meet legal and professional obligations that apply to licensed REALTORS® in Alberta.
5. Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share it only with:
- CIR Realty, our brokerage, as needed to provide real-estate services.
- Service providers that help us operate — for example Cloudflare (hosting), Google Analytics (Site analytics), our CRM, and email/marketing tools — who may process data on our behalf under their own terms.
- Authorities or advisors where required by law or to protect our legal rights.
6. Data retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law and professional record-keeping rules, then delete or anonymize it.
7. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your choices and rights
You may ask us to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, or to stop contacting you, by emailing jay@kernrealty.ca. We handle personal information in accordance with Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) and applicable Alberta legislation.
9. Children
The Site is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. External links
The Site links to third-party websites (for example our brokerage's home-search site and social media). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above shows when it was last changed.
